Being responisble stewards of this planet and the resources that God has given us is something that is important to us at Quaker Hill. This fundamental belief helps to direct our service and management of Quaker Hill.
We conscientiously recycle plastic and aluminum beverage containers and other items. We also compost our food items.
We mostly use compact fluorescent bulbs in our lighting applications, and whenever we replace fixtures, either electrical or plumbing, we always consider the environmental impact and try to get the best fit for our organization.
Approximately 20 acres of our property has been placed in the Classified Forest Program with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Replanting of 5500 trees was completed several years ago and the trees are inspected and managed annually.
The maintenance and preservation of the historic 1855 Evans House is an ongoing project. We gain support for projects through grants from the Wayne County Foundation, other granting foundations and individual donations.
